Microsoft Philippines, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of US-based Microsoft Corporation, was established in August 30, 1995. As the world’s leading software provider, Microsoft strives to produce innovative products that meet the customers’ evolving needs. At the same time, it understands that long-term success is about more than making great products.

Since its inception in 1975, Microsoft’s mission has been to create software for the personal computer that empowers and enriches people in the workplace, school and at home. Following a reinvention of the company’s core structure, the ever-changing customer needs in the new Internet era were put into consideration. “To enable people and business throughout the world to realize their full potential” drives Microsoft’s approach to business.

Continuing to reinvent itself to adapt to the needs of its customers, Microsoft recently accelerated the commitment to close the digital divide with the creation of products and programs that bring social and economic opportunity to more Filipinos.

Microsoft’s early vision of a computer on every desk and in every home is coupled today with a strong commitment to Internet-related technologies that expand the power and reach of the users. Microsoft offers a wide range of products and services, suited for both personal and business news.

Each product is designed for two things: one, to make it easier and more enjoyable for people to take advantage of the full power of personal computing every day; and two, to provide enterprises with more efficient solutions to maximize productivity. Microsoft Philippines conducts business through its network of partners and resellers, which number more than 1,600 today.

Sustaining a continuous cycle of social and economic growth for Filipinos, Microsoft is focused on transforming education, fostering innovation and providing opportunities that enable Filipinos to achieve their full potential through various programs. Today, the company invests more than US$ 2.5 million per year in local citizenship projects. Microsoft has also partnered with several institutions to be able to reach out to underserved sectors.

Through the Microsoft Unlimited Potential Community Technology Skills Program, the global initiative that focuses on improving lifelong learning for underserved communities by providing technology skills through community technology and learning centers, Microsoft provides cash, software and curriculum grants to non-profit organizations.

Beneficiaries of the Unlimited Potential program include underprivileged Amerasians; Overseas Filipino workers served through a variety of NGOs as well government agencies like the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration; and survivors of human trafficking served through Visayan Forum Foundation and other non-government organizations.

Microsoft is also committed to leading and nurturing the Filipino human capital by seeding the continuous transformation of Philippine education. Microsoft Partners in Learning program, implemented with the Department of Education and other partners, aims to provide teachers and students not just access to the latest computer technologies, but also comprehensive information and communications technology (ICT) skills development and training for teachers on ICT integration into curriculum and learning. To date, Partners in Learning has already reached over 5,000 Filipino educators and 470,000 students in the country.

Microsoft Philippines also helps in contributing to the development of Filipino leaders and innovators. Its mission is to bind a globally dispersed, virtual Filipino nation through connected, transparent and high service governance and community systems. By providing superior technology, Microsoft Philippines ensures the competitiveness of the global Filipino.
